What our contributors say . . .

“CVABE has done so much good for so many of our neighbors over the years, helping them achieve goals some never thought possible.”
Beth Rusnock (pictured left), President, National Life Group Foundation
“Education and literacy have been traditional areas of focus for the Stowe Rotary Club.  Our partnership with CVABE is a natural extension of that interest.”
George Lewis: Past President, Stowe Rotary Club
“I believe that everyone should be able to read and write and compute at a level needed to get a good job. But as a lifelong reader and a writer for many years, I love the fact that CVABE doesn’t forget that souls and spirits need nourishment, too.”
Katherine Paterson: internationally acclaimed author
Some students drop out of public school. As a special educator, I saw that these students often did better outside of a traditional classroom. At CVABE there is one person supporting you and rooting for you and helping you set your goals. It's a great way to help people who need a more tailored approach.
Winifred McCormick (pictured left), retired special educator
CVABE may have a student who needs the requisite skills to get a commercial driver’s license; often has students who, upon passing their G.E.D, hope to continue to community college; and has single parents who want to participate in their children’s school life. CVABE tailors its services to the specifically felt needs of each student it serves.
Sydney Lea: renowned poet, novelist, professor and Vermont Poet Laureate from 2011-2015
“Literacy is crucial to the success of individuals in both their career aspirations and their quality of life.  It has an impact on an individual’s ability to participate in society and to understand important public issues.”
Samantha Pause (pictured right), Senior Vice President, Mascoma Savings Bank
