Scarf Raffle for Students
Young Alexandria Coffin of Fairlee, inspired by her brother and her love of reading, decided to make and sell scarves to raise money for adult literacy. In addition to the money she raised, Alexandria sent us three scarves to give away to students. We decided to distribute the gift scarves through a free raffle.
On Tuesday, March 30, Alexandria, accompanied by her mother, came to our Bradford Learning Center to draw the winning tickets. Our lucky winners were Samantha from Barre, Scott from Braintree, and Sheila from Randolph.

Merchants Bank Foundation Gift
Central Vermont adults and teens who are preparing to enter the workforce have been given a boost by the Merchants Bank Foundation.
A gift of $2,400 from the Foundation to Central Vermont Adult Basic Education, Inc. supports a unique education program combining instruction in applied reading, writing and math with the computer skills essential for employment.
Wendy Rea, Merchants Bank Barre Branch President, is shown here with Mary Leahy, Executive Team member of CVABE. The Foundation’s gift represents contributions from each of the Merchants’ branch banks in Washington, Orange, and Lamoille Counties, the region CVABE has served for over forty years. |
