WHAT’S NEW!

After 58 years as Central Vermont Adult Basic Education, we have changed our name. We are now Central Vermont Adult Education.

We’ve simply dropped the “basic.” Language grows, and in recent years the word “basic” has become somewhat of a pejorative. Plus, basic literacy is only a small part of what we do. Our new name tells the big picture: we provide the assets that help adults to get ahead, adult education at many levels.

We were recently featured on WCAX.

CVAE and Vermont’s partner adult education providers have been quietly working behind the scenes to ensure that we have the necessary funding to meet the growing needs of our adult learners. The Vermont legislature ordered a study, which was recently completed, and recommendations have been made. To view the article and video click here: Link to news report

CVAE will meet you where you’re at. There’s no judgement. I know I wouldn’t be where I am if I hadn’t gone there. I’ve mastered the computer, and I’m now brushing up on Math and English skills to help with future CCV classes. I may go for a bachelor’s degree after this. I never thought I’d be able to do any college, but at CVAE I learned that I can. Who knows what’s next?
